We have been watching Season 5 of Arrow on Netflix. There have been undertones of a progressive agenda in all seasons filled with typical psychobabble throughout each show. But this season, in episode 13, the writers took on Gun Control while employing sophistry to make it seem like a doable, workable good thing. The emotional talking points of progressives were strategically well placed in between a few talking points that Gun Rights advocates make.
Yeah. Not a debate of ideas. Not one shred of debate about why the Right to Bear Arms is in the Constitution. Nothing about how honorable men and women, who obey, honor, and sustain the law, could help Oliver Queen “save” his city.
The writers’ solution to save the city was never addressed. Queen, the Mayor, and one of the guys on his team, who had suffered the loss of his wife and was a gun rights supporter, hammered out a solution for gun control while, allegedly, preserving gun rights.
Yeah. Queen and the guy were magically united in purpose and then the one gun rights council woman, who was the hold out, looked at the proposal and signed on to it.
Apparently, the writers had to pass the decree without the viewers ever knowing what that grand solution ended up being. It sort of reminded me of “if you like your plan, you can keep your plan,” and “we have to pass the bill to know what’s in it.“
Yeah. Lame. Lame for Obamacare and worse for Gun Control.
