Dog Days: Rolling my eyes

As I sit here roughing in the title of what I am going to write about, I am rolling my eyes. Hence the new and improved title. Honestly, I have no clue how I managed to row 10k today but Dog Days:Week 2 is completed. Hallelujah!

Today’s row was absolutely miserable. My mind was not in the game. It was running frenzied, like watching the mayhem between one of those blue tailed skinks and my black lab as she chases the thing around the porch and up the tree.

The original plan was to row 20k in four sessions. Having rowed a 5k Tuesday and Wednesday the goal was to row 5k today and again tomorrow but I have several pressing priorities tomorrow so opted to just finish the last 10k today.

The new and improved (rolling my eyes) plan was to row down a ladder: 4k with a 3 minute rest, 3k – 2 minute rest, 2k – 1 minute rest and then finish strong with 1k.

For some bizarre reason I dropped the damper to level 4.5 (rolling my eyes) instead of 5 – 5.5 and that is when the row went sideways. Between the heat and the damper setting I wanted to quit halfway through the 4k. My times were horrific and I could have cared less, sort of. I could have changed the damper setting but opted to suffer instead (rolling my eyes).

My SPM’s were the worst ever, as in like my first days ever rowing, and then I whined my way through the rest period, the 3k and rest period, the 2k and rest period. By the time I got to that last 1k it was all I could do to just get it done while thoughts regarding the 30k caused me to lament ever rowing Dog Days 2017.

Still it is d-o-n-e. Tomorrow I can wake up with a new and improved attitude if I do not have lingering nightmares about today.

Putting my miserable, whining self to bed now (rolling my eyes).

Oh, wait! I can end today with one happy thought. Thanks to whoever used my CrossRope Code to order a jump rope! I get a free t-shirt.

(Was that you, Michel? – not rolling my eyes!)

That $10 OFF code expires September 4, 2017 so take advantage today!

Times 3: On a Roll…or is that Row?

Not talking about it. Just moving on.

I am here at Guns Out CrossFit after a long absence and wearing the shoes that took me out for several weeks the last time I took a rowing challenge.

Today I remembered my socks. And now, even with my wounded-but-much-better  toenail, it is time to take on the #DogDaysOfSummer.

Yeah Baby! Press forward! Row like the wind… or something like that.

Pratville Swolemate 2017 Games

It was a fantastic day today. The Honey-do and I had a lot of running around today and it was a hot one! I need to get this posted before midnight so just a quick little notation. Shoot… it’s after midnight, darn it!

We were able to make it up to Prattville to see Four Teams from Guns Out CrossFit compete in the Swolemate 2017. It was brutal for the teams in this sultry, Alabama heat! It was 94F with a RealFeel of 113F at 56% humidity and that was at 4-5 p.m. in Montgomery so imagine it was pretty close to that 30 mintues up the road, in the Stadium, in the full sun.

Anyway, we got up to the games about 7 and it was still in the mid-90s. Brutal. But there they all were powering through the next two events.

I was sorry we had to leave before the last two events but my mates were looking pretty awesome.

174/365 … on day 175 darn it! Missed it by that much…  8 mins.

Psyched for that half-marathon row

Concept 2 Online Challenges

‘Tis almost here! Just three more days until that half-marathon and I am trying to get out all of the excitement for the event before Wednesday. It would be a shame to let the adrenalin rush overtake me. I do not want to explode and burn out before I take that first pull on the rower.

Planning ahead I have been focused on eating well and drinking a lot of water. Then there is how to hydrate and what light sustenance I can take in to keep up my strength for the duration of the event but I think I have that figured out.

My rowing-hydration-fueling plan for the day of will be solidified tomorrow after my final training row at Guns Out CrossFit

Yayeee! The day is soon here. Now all I have to do is put my music track together.

Today’s Golden List

Last week I rewatched THE ULTIMATE GIFT and tonight I am watching the next show in the series, THE ULTIMATE LIFE. In one scene Red jumps a train with Hobo Joe and Joe talks about making his Golden List.

So here is mine:

  1. Two loving doggies who snuggle when I am watching a movie.
  2. My Charlie R. took a 2 hour nap today.
  3. And his brother, Big A who went on a walk even though he did not feel very well.
  4. CrossRope Jump-roping today with severely wounded toes.
  5. Rowing intervals to get my blood pumping.
  6. Latisha for handling the issues with my husband’s special order suits and shirt.
  7. Chocolate Almond Milk.
  8. Kindly neighbors who look out for us.
  9. The beauty of the earth in the warmth of today’s sunshine.
  10. For the miracle of forgiveness and the peace it brings.
